Specifications

Where PY 83 excels — and where to check carefully

Pigment Yellow 83 delivers a strong, brilliant golden-yellow with excellent acid and alkali resistance and very good dispersion across both water-based and solvent-based systems. Heat stability to 200 °C makes it suitable for a broader range of plastics processing than monoazo Hansa yellows. For outdoor applications, verify lightfastness in reduced (tint) shade specifically — full-shade performance is notably better than pale tints, a common characteristic of diarylide pigments.

Applications

Decorative & Industrial Paints

Brilliant golden-yellow with excellent opacity for decorative and industrial paint systems, both water- and solvent-based.

Industrial Coatings

Good heat and chemical resistance make PY 83 suitable for general industrial coating systems requiring a durable golden yellow.

Printing Inks

High colour strength and opacity for flexo, gravure, and offset printing inks across packaging and commercial applications.

Plastics

200 °C heat stability supports a wider range of plastics processing than monoazo yellows, including polyolefin masterbatch.

Rubber & Textiles

Good dispersion and heat stability suit rubber compounding and textile pigment printing where a strong golden yellow is required.
